Built to withstand years of powerful storms and wave action, the renewed rock revetment seawalls at Campbells Bay, Waiwera and Hatfields Beach have benefited from our knowledge of rock wall materials, construction and performance under harsh marine and tidal conditions. Auckland Council engaged us to replace altogether more than 250 metres of deteriorating seawalls at the three beaches, along with building an additional set of concrete steps at popular tourist spot Waiwera. Our experience on seawall projects throughout Auckland influenced our early recommendation to the council that it use a superior grade of rock than it had allocated to the job. In consultation with the council, we sourced and used robust basalt material that will add many decades to the assets’ life. Our team applied rigorous environmental and safety measures at the sites that have already stood up to the effects of several destructive storms and daily tidal inundation.
